For more than 25 years, I have provided teeth cleanings for dogs and cats without the use of anesthesia.

Providing your pets teeth are not loose and free from gum infection (early stages of periodontal disease) I am able to remove tartar (calculus) buildup by gently scaling the teeth. My dental maintenance (every 2 - 6 months) can prolong a veterinary prophylaxis (cleaning) for as many as 3 - 5 years, depending on breed and type of food your pet is eating. Kibble will cause less buildup than soft food.

Non anesthetic dental maintenance is a fabulous alternative to stay on top of our pets oral hygiene. This, however, does not imply or suggest that dental check ups with your Vet should ever be eliminated. During your pets yearly health check up, your Vet will evaluate your pets oral condition and determine if a non anesthetic cleaning (pertaining to stages 1 and 2 periodontal disease) is sufficient for your pet. Pets that are suffering from stages 3 and 4 periodontal disease must be anesthetized through your Vet for a deep prophylaxis.

Non anesthetic maintenance is designed to maintain good oral health and eliminate yearly Veterinary cleanings. Cleanings that are expensive both financially and physically.

Ideally, your pet's teeth should be brushed daily with a children's tooth brush and a small amount of baking soda. NEVER use 'people' tooth paste as the ingredients upset their tummy's.

Dental maintenance cost is generally $25 for the monthly plan to $85 for the 4 month plan. Large breeds (Goldens, Labs) are slightly higher. Dental maintenance does not hurt or cause any discomfort and requires 15-30 minutes, depending on tartar build up.

Lets work together and avoid putting your pet under anesthesia unnecessarily, yet maintaining a clean, healthy mouth!

Please Note: Due to the required Veterinary supervision, teeth cleaning is only available in the Salon, not mobile services.

I also carry Oxyfresh Pet Oral Solutions. This liquid is mixed with your pets water and provides a daily "teeth brushing" for owners unable to brush their pets teeth. The minimal twice yearly recommended cleanings are generally $85 - $120 (a fraction of the cost of veterinary prophylaxis).

Fact: 85% of dogs older than four years of age have periodontal disease. Periodontal disease, if left untreated, causes the gums to begin bleeding, bacteria to grow in the pockets created around the teeth and released in the bloodstream where they can travel to the heart, liver and kidneys. Chronic periodontal disease results in loss of anchoring bone and the teeth eventually fall out.
